Treatment of Hepatoma with Hepatic artery Infusion of LAK Cell and Intravenous Interleukin-2

Abstract
We have examined the effect of intraarterial infusion of LAK cells through the hepatic artery and intravenous Interleukin-2 in humans with hepatoma unresponsive to other treatments. there were ten primary hepatomas and three metastatic hepatomas.
Two
patients out of six intraarterial infusion of LAK cells survived more than two years. And two out of seven intravenous infusion of LAK cells survived more than two years. Collular cytotoxicity was measured y four hour 51Chromium release assay.
This
study showed that intraarterial infusion of LAK cells augmented LAK activity more prominent than intravenous infusion of LAK cells. It could be speculated that intraarterial infusion of LAK cells in the patients with hepatoma potentiated
immunological
response of the host by rendering a large number of LAK cells to the tumor.
